Parcel boundaries are only representations of official documents filed with the County and are created and maintained to the best ability of the Columbia County Land Information Department. Parcel dimensions and shape may contain errors that occurred during digitization of the legal description from a recorded document, if a legal description was provided.
Sometimes the "GIS_PIN" attribute is incorrect due to input error. This will be corrected as soon as the error is recognized.
Gaps and overlaps do exist within the data. These can be because of errors when creating a parcel. Some gaps are created on purpose due to missing or conflicting recorded documents. These parcels will usually include "GAP" in the attributes within the "GIS_PIN" field.
Parcel data is considered to be complete. All parcels within Columbia County that have a recorded document are included in the data. Some Right-of-Way (ROW) parcels are missing due to not having any supporting documention from which to get the legal boundary of the area known to be ROW.
Parcel data are updated when changes are officially recorded and provided to the Land Information Department.
